An interview with Sapiens Project’s Founder
Sapiens is a project that aims to decentralize every aspect of the academic and certification system.
The Platform will provide an infrastrucuture to creating, issuing, viewing, and verifying official records in a digital format, such as exams results, publications ownership and bachelors.
Furthermore, Sapiens will provide a Courses Marketplace and aim to become a Reputation Platform for professionals. The first proof of concept was developed using Smart Contracts on Ethereum blockchain, but after an accurate analysis the project moved to Lisk blockchain.
Now we have the chance to interview Matteo Ferrari, Founder at Sapiens, and ask him more about the project.
Why did you start this project? What excites you most about it?
The current process to verify the authenticity of a certificate is slow and analog and often involves real phone calls to the issuer. Moreover, if the issuer organization ceases to exist, records can no longer be verified. Bitcoin-like technologies are perfect to store data and the blockchain acts as a notary. People deserve to own their certificates in a format which they can own, share and easily verify.
What challenges is your company facing today and what do you expect your main challenges to be a year from now?
We are at the beginning of the project. We are collecting information and starting the main design. We are also waiting for the SDK by LiskHQ in order to take critical decisions about the Sapiens Core element. In 1 year the main challenge will be to launch the Sapiens Sidechain and continue the implementation of the certification system.
What impact could your company have on the education and professional sectors in the next five years?
In 5 years we aim to build an infallible, unstoppable, secure and reliable platform that anyone can use and trust. Universities and private companies could use Sapiens Platform to issue certifications and Sapiens Reputation Platform will aim to be the new standard for professionals in order to aggregate, collect and show their achievements, skills and certificates. 100% verifiable by anyone.
what are your next steps? Are you working on some strategic partnerships?
Sapiens is a new idea, but we already did some dedicated meeting in some Italian and French universities in order to discuss about the actual certification system and how Sapiens will revolutionize this field. Sapiens project will be 100% open-source and community driven. It’s important to talk about it and inspire developers for collaborations.
Why should entrepreneurs consider building applications using Lisk blockchain?
Lisk aims to be the next “Big Thing” in the Crypto-space. And personally I think they have all the capacities and resources to do so. The Idea to bind cryptocurrencies and the Javascript world is a winning factor due to the enormous potentialities of Javascript community. Moreover, the idea to build this highly interconnected ecosystem by using Sidechains technologies could solve the scalability issues that blockchain projects are suffering these days.
Thanks Matteo for answering to these questions!
