LiskHQ Today at Consensus 2019
This year Lisk attends again the Consensus Event, organized by Coindesk in New York City. The event, held at the New York Hilton Midtown Hotel and at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel, began on Monday 13 May and will end on Wednesday 15 May.
We remind you that this is one of the most important crypto events and that from 2015 (the year of the first edition) it represents a point of reference for the entire ecosystem. The aim is to bring together developers, managers, investors and others to carry out the task of determining the future of the blockchain and digital resources in general. Here you can find the article on the last edition.
Among the numerous sponsors of this edition, in the Five Block Sponsors group, we can find big names like Bloq, Deloitte, Etoro, Flexa, IBM and TATA.

This year, to represent Lisk, Max Kordek (CEO & Co-Founder) and Rachel Black (Tech Evangelist) are hosted by Ryan Selkis, CEO & Co-Founder at the Messari team. Max and Rachel are featured keynote speakers at Consensus Construct conference. The keynote will cover the latest update of the Foundation and the development updates, as well as a Q&A session with the attendees.
The first day of #Consensus2019 is over. Met many great minds, former advisors, friends, politicians, lawyers, former and current contractors, developers and fellow true blockchainers.

Among the interesting topics discussed this year we highlight, for example, the Initial Exchange Offering (IEO) which is partly replacing the Initial Coin Offering (ICO). Various exchanges, in fact, took responsibility for the launch of the new tokens and their related projects. However, the answer of U.S. SEC has not been slow to arrive. Valerie Szczepanik, in fact, Senior Advisor at the independent federal government agency, warned the crypto exchanges present on U.S. soil that, if they wish to start IEOs, they will first have to apply for licenses such as: broker-dealer, alternative trading system (ATS), national securities exchange.
To stay in the regulatory framework, this year’s edition also covered the proposal by Member of Parliament Brad Sherman to ban the purchase of cryptocurrencies in the US. Specifically, Ron Paul, a former member of the United States Congress, spoke of it. He, from his much more liberal point of view, considers it a bad idea and advises the U.S. SEC to leave the cryptocurrency sector alone.
To conclude, among the upcoming events that will concern Lisk we point out WeAreDevelopers 2019, a congress dedicated to developers to be held in Berlin on June 6th.
