Who is 9up Delegate? We Interviewed The Group
9up is a candidate delegate that is getting closer to the 101th position. We asked them few questions to better understand their story and their future initiatives.
How many people are there behind 9up delegate and what are their roles?
9up.io is a Hong Kong based local blockchain crypto enthusiasts community; currently we have 8 core members, ranging from code developers, IT tech support to community managers and content creators. Each of the members are striving for a common goal: to promote blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies in the local Hong Kong community for better adoption.
When the group was born and how?
It was born in 2017; before the group sprouted, we met each other in Telegram as we all shared the interest in Blockchain/cryptocurrency. Gradually, the idea took shape and we decided to be a Telegram-based group, with physical and online meetings. In 2018 we organized our first major event and developed softwares and tools to facilitate blockchain adoptions; this was the moment when we officially became 9up.io delegate.
How did you already contributed to Lisk ecosystem? Which is the initiative that received more attention from the community?
We fostered the Lisk adoption by launching a crypto ATM with Lisk-fiat currency pairs and organized a party for Lisk supporters in Hong Kong. We also developed the Lisk starter card pack 1.0 and over 500 packs were distributed. Our Lisk Education seminar at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) was an official side event for Token 2049 and Asia Crypto week. This introductory seminar about Lisk was held by Max Kordek (President at Lisk Foundation) at HKU and in that occasion he explained this blockchain to our local community. We believe that engage young educated individuals and provide accessible tools to crypto newcomers will help to bring Lisk to be a broader application.
Which are your goals as a forging delegate?
We hope to bring Lisk into mass adoption and build the Lisk ecosystem together. Through forging, we could better manage our resources and expand our education and promotion initiatives in more places and not limiting them to Hong Kong and Asia. It also gives us the flexibility to invest in developers to develop dApps using Lisk SDK.
What is your relationship with Elite group?
We are Elite Support delegate. In some of our previous Lisk events, Elite group supported our dissemination efforts: for example in our Lisk-Fiat Adoption party, Elite group was one of the co-hosts and sponsored the event. As our group is composed by volunteers, therefore new economic resources could help us in our daily operations, allowing us to focus more on the local community and to create a better ecosystem for Lisk.
How will you support SDK/sidechain development?
At present we are running the testnet node to test the updates of each new SDK version that will be released. We are also closely connected to universities, whereby we can propose collaborations and provide hands-on experience to developers. We aim to bring in more users from different backgrounds, in order to improve Lisk ecosystem.
Where can people follow your updates?
You can check our website, follow our Telegram channels or group, find us in Twitter or Discord. Of course, the best way is to come in Hong Kong and join our local events. We hope to see you guys soon.
Thank you 9up for your time!
