More Security with the Hardware Wallets Support!
Andrea Baccega (Vekexasia) and Aleksey Popov (Alepop), delegates and members of the decentralized group GDT that support the Lisk Ecosystem, recently announced they are working on supporting Lisk on two of the best hardware wallets on today’s market: Ledger and Trezor.
There aren’t any precisely date yet but it should be released on Summer 2018 even if Andrea said he hopes to release his work much earlier. This feature will bring more security for the entire community as hardware wallets allow to add an extra layer of safety to protect your cryptocurrencies in the case that your computer is compromised and your private keys stole by a key logger or phishing site.
Furthermore hardware wallets have a multitude of benefits that makes them the best place to keep coins safe:
- Everything Stored Offline
- Multi-currency Compatibility (Which coins?)
- All data encrypted
- Malware-free
- Completely Open Source
We took the opportunity to ask some questions to Andrea in order to get more information:
Will the Lisk support to the Ledger Nano be valid as well for the Ledger Blue?
Not immediately, primarily will be developed the support to the Ledger Nano, after that will be possible extend this support to the Ledger Blue.
Will be safe and easy to install the Lisk Ledger App Wallet?
Probably there will be no need to install any new app. The Lisk support will be implemented and integrated on Lisk Nano.
Will you implement the entire Lisk support or you will collaborate with the Lisk Team?
We will have two different roles, I will develop the library in order to allow the Lisk support integration and the Lisk Team will integrate it.
Will be possible to make, change or delete votes through Ledger?
Sure, you will be able to do all these things in a more secure way.
Thanks Andrea for answering to these questions!
