Introducing Bdonor: A Crowdfunding PoC for Lisk
Another day, another proof-of-concept rollout. Last week, we were pleased to read Lisk delegate cc001’s announcement on Discord, where he introduced a Crowdfunding PoC called Bdonor to the Lisk community and developers. In his own words: “It is a platform running on a Lisk Sidechain that enables the decentralized donations based on blockchain technology. It connects donors and beneficiaries on a web and mobile client and allows sending and receiving donations with just a few clicks”.
He linked the official website for the Dapp, where you can find the inspiration behind the name Bdonor as well as the vision for the project going forward. Bdonor basically has two meanings. It stands for both “Blockchain Donors” and the more descriptive meaning: “ be a donor” or “become a donor”. You will find a link to the vision on the home page. Here is the main value proposition: “Our vision is to facilitate donations around the world. Everybody should be able and be allowed to donate and receive donations, no matter who he/she/it is, no matter where he/she/it is located at. It should be as easy as a few clicks on the web and/or mobile and extremely secure and fail-safe”.
In the Discord announcement, he stated that the team expects people in the Lisk community to be the first users. Everyone from delegates, to bloggers/ news writers, to meetup organizers, to tool-coders, to bug hunters, and supporters will benefit. He expressed hope for the potential expansion beyond people on the aforementioned group to regular people like “Artists, Bloggers, Non-profit organizations/people”. He also described the concept briefly.
Each community member that has supported Lisk and would like to receive a donation will be able to generate a “donation request”. Such a request would contain pertinent information like a description of the work he or she has done, some background information and the account where he or she would like to receive a donation. For instance, if you have organized a meetup that focused on Lisk in the past, have been an active community member on Discord, have reported a bug or made contributions to Github, you qualify.
CC001 explained what lies ahead: “This is just the first version. I plan to add a lot more features in the future. Like for example automatic and regular donations, micro-payments or even decentralized crowdfunding. Additionally, I definitely plan to extend the use of it beyond the Lisk community to “normal” people. I will publish the opensource code soon, and I will put up a first test version where you all can test the platform and give feedback on what you think about it. Right now check https://bdonor.io/screenshots/ for some first impressions”.
